The community garden provides 10ft x 20ft plots that you may rent for $40 per season. You may grow whatever you like as long as it’s an annual. The rental fee includes the cost of water, liability insurance, and other supplies necessary for management. We provide the tilling, garden tools, and assorted accessories.
Maybe you’ve always wanted a garden and didn’t have the space, the money, or the tools? We will provide Spring rototilling, composted and fertile soil, and free access to shared rakes, hoes, hand tools, water hoses, and sprinklers. We also plan to develop perennial plots of asparagus, rhubarb, garlic, grapes, and a variety of fruit trees

The Brownton Community Garden is managed by elected volunteers who are committed to helping our neighbors and grow community through gardening. Our garden will serve as an equal opportunity and educational space where people of all ages can learn about sustainable living, share knowledge, grow fresh and affordable produce, and nurture relationships that might not have occurred through any other venue.
Managed by Volunteers The community garden will be developed and maintained by a garden board comprised of elected volunteers. Our goal is to become a non-profit so that we may better manage the funding that will be necessary to improve and maintain the site and provide a fertile environment in which to grow. Elections for the following year will be held at the end of the growing season. If you are interested in a board position, please let one of the current members know.
Our current garden board members are:
Chair: Sandra Schafer
Secretary: Lynn Otteson
Treasurer: John Evanson
